True story - the first status update I put out for the TCA after I set it up was something about "bangers" ... you don't want to know the response I got. Suffice to say, I blocked some people and learned never to use that word on Facebook. ;u)
But, yes - I agree! I'm going to get the photo party started!
Beautiful! I love the idea of typing the address on a label, thus freeing one to be creative with the envelope - besides, I never type the address on the correct spot anyway; it always ends up too high. Will keep an eye out for some fancy wrapping paper for the envelope project.
I know, isn't that so cool? As soon as I saw it I was like, "Damn, that looks so neat and I've got to do some of these, too." And any worry about sending something smaller (or heavier) in the mail than a normal envelope, melted away. I'll brave it.
I agree with notagain. I'll need get some more pictures up on that FB page!
I hadn't unglued an envelope to use as a template yet, but that is one of the recommended ways. I ended up finding a printable template and tested that with just a plain white sheet of paper. My gluing skills ruined it, but I've got a better idea for the next attempt.
Also, my wife mentioned that her Cricut machine (something she uses for scrapbooking and is basically a printer with a knife that cuts out shapes on paper and vinyl) has some envelope designs that she could cut for me. She mentioned something about it also being able to cut out shapes in the envelope border and the like, so I'm kind of excited to see what see can do for me.
I'm Ryan, and I just thought I'd post a quick comment... Im systematically trying to go through all of strikethru's links (there is so much info to take in haha), and I noticed the address on this envelope is in Fort Wayne! I just moved from Fort Wayne to Indy!
I would love to get to know another typewriter enthusiast in Indiana :) I have images of a Hoosier Type-In already!
Thanks for the shout out! And that is one fancy envelope. It's art like that that makes me wish I could do something other than write!
ReplyDeletei "liked" TCA. we should make sure we get pics up there. a lot.

ReplyDeleteFun and functional! I love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Making envelopes out of random paper is completely fun. Just unglue an envelope to use as a template.
