Ok, pardon the dimness on my part here - but why the back seat? Wouldn't the passenger seat in front work for this? Thanks for the pic though.
And as for crawling over the seat to get out . . . reminds me of when we first got our Camry. The car it replaced had a unworking front passenger door AND a bench seat. So I would use the driver side door just slide over. Forgetting this the first time I got into the Camry as a passenger, I found myself crawling out of the driver's bucket seat, over the gear shift contraption (which was very tricky!), and then trying to work my way into the other bucket seat.
Beloved Spousal Unit - standing outside on the driver side with an exceedingly bemused expression, practically fell over laughing: "What in the heck did you do that for? The doors work on this car!!" NOTE: I am over 6 feet tall too.
There's a photocompetition to be started here, Deek. Typewrunner's got a head start, but maybe some desterts, mountaintops and riverbanks? Great pic, and well done for keeping such a tidy car. Our Golf Estate (Rabbit SW?)isn't half as clean!
why the back seat? two reasons, really (and yes, that does mean i think this sort of silliness through before acting). the first being start up and break down time. i keep the case back there behind the driver's seat and sheets of paper in the pouch. so, i just hop back there, get my gear and write. when its time to go, i put it all away and i likely won't have to move anything if a person or two ride with me (rarely happens, but it could).
second, since i never sit in the back, its a new setting and one i am trying to associate with only writing. if this becomes a good writing zone, then i can use it at home, too. so, its a mental thing, since the back seat is not associated with anything else.
yeah, it is a bit cramped, but more for my arms typing than the legroom. i'm only 6'3"...
First, that a fine looking typewriter there, love the color and we can't see the flaws from here. I was about to ask why the car, but when I typed at work I kept getting interrupted by curious onlookers, so a moment's though has answered that. Good point about the writing zone. Lastly, at only 5'6" I'm gobsmacked by all the giants assembled here.
1) Re: the back seat -- I just figured you wanted people to think you were waiting for Kato to come back from whatever mission he's on so he can drive you home. 2) Was that your first attempt at snapping your own picture in that siguation? My wife and I used to - back in the hazy distant past - have lots of those arms-length self-portraits. I never tried it when I wasn't actually Looking into the camera.
Duffy Moon, I've done my share of arm-length portraits and this one took about five takes. I guess I was trying to more look the part by not looking into the camera:)
Unusual typing pics...now that's an idea I hadn't thought of, but has a lot of potential!

ReplyDeleteLooks a bit cramped. I've been in that situation myself -- and I'm 6'7"!
ReplyDeleteThe typewriter sure looks pretty in a small photo.

interesting idea - photograph yourself typing in unusual places or situations... This needs a prize!
