You gotta announce these things. When you post something on Google+ you have the option of notifying everyone in that circle. You could also announce the hangout in advance on Welcome to the Typosphere.
You know, I completely forgot I could do a group invite to notify. I knew that Google+ shows any active hangouts on my stream, but that's not pushed out. Next time, I will do the invite.
Now, I didn't feel last night's hangout was worthy of an announcement. It was really just spur of the moment. I had my laptop next to me and I pulled out my Hermes 3000 to compose my typecast. I figured that if anyone happened to see my hangout on their Google+ stream, and they wanted to hop on, cool, but if not, no biggie, as I was probably only on for 30 minutes or so.
I never log on to Google+ for any length of time, so I agree with Richard that a group invite would have been the way to go. I might even have been online then! Well, next time; I'm looking forward to it :)
I keep forgetting about these google hangouts, gotta get myself on the next one!
