  1. I love it! I have been wanting a SCM Galaxy 12 (or deluxe) and a Olivetti 32 for a while. I have an electric SCM Coronet that looks like yours there, but it's electric. As much as I love it, the only electric I use is my IMB Selectric. Other than that, I prefer manuals.

If you can I would look in to finding a Olympia. I have a SM9 and I can't say enough good things about. I love my Smith Coronas and my Olympias. I haven't found a manual desktop machine and would love to try one. My only desktop is my Selectric. But really space is kind of an issue. A Olympia SG 1 or SG 3 would be the only machines I just couldn't say no to. Good luck man finding more typers, I love your photo shoots. I look forward to seeing more.

  2. Nice photos. I'm very partial to the Galaxies.

  3. Didn't I tell ya? ;-) Galaxies are perhaps a bit plain, but they're sweet little machines nonetheless. Yours looks to be from exactly the same time period as mine--same faceplate, though mine is pretty battered.

  4. Yes, you did tell me:)

Do you have an idea of the manufacture year? I'm somewhat partial to knowing the age of my typers and this one has alluded me thus far.

I'm pretty sure its in the 70s, but I'd like to get a better fix on it. It would be kind of neat if it was manufactured in 1976 (my birth year).

  5. I wish I knew more about when these were made. The later SCM models are shrouded in mystery.

    '76 was a good year. ;-) I'm a bicentennial kid, too.
