It soon will be indeed! Just finished packing it up this afternoon; and hopefully it will be in the mail to you well before the end of the week. Hope the padding job wasn't excessive... we weighed the box and it came to 9.8kg, yikes. It should be fine, though, fingers crossed.
I like this Letter Gothic typeface as well! And how you type without errors, I'll never know :(
These Selectric typecasts really bring up old memories. My mother had a stenography business in the early 70s and used a Selectric II. most of what I recall seeing was typed using either artisan or letter gothic, and here you are using those two! I still have a box of balls and a spare ribbon from those days, and a friend says he has a Selectric I can have, so I'm going to find those balls and see what I have. I"m glad you're getting the Hermes, mine is my favorite typer.
Love that typeface. Have I said this 1,000 times? SO sad to hear you are not feeling well, stomach bugs are the ultimate worst thing. I just live in terror of getting them.
I'm certainly looking forward to typing on the Hermes. When I was looking for a Lettera 32 a friend mentioned he had one and wasn't impressed. I had just the opposite opinion when I got mine and loved it. So, I'm hoping that all the good things I hear about the Hermes 3000 is hype that it can live up to when its delivered!
Haha...yeah, you've complimented the typeface a time or two. I think you need to get a working Selectric, Strikethru. These typefaces can be found for less than $10 a pop on eBay.
And I am finally rebounding from this stomach bug...finally!
Glad to hear you're feeling better! I've wanted a Selectric II for the longest time. I remember writing one of my first short stories on one of those mammoth things when I was around 5 years old. Anyone needing to donate one to a good home please contact me! ;u)
Well, Bob, I've got mine listed on Craigslist for $50. If you were interested, it may be possible to meet in Valparaiso, IN (about halfway between us) to exchange.
I went to Valpo my freshman year of college, so its an easy ride. My wife's uncle is on the way, so I could probably drop her off to let her ride horses, plus, Valpo has one of the closest White Castle's to my house, so I'd have a nice lunch there.
Anyways, I'd be willing to make the trip to Valpo, if you were interested in my Selectric II.
I'll have to check with the wife first...or just pretend I'm going out for a gallon of milk! ;u)
Valpo isn't too bad a drive at all, it would just be a matter of finding a time to do it. I will let you know ASAP. What color is it?
...and I think you should do a follow up to the "Why I Write" interactive blog with the topic of "How I Write". It's always been my favorite part of The Writer magazine and would love to find out how more accessible writers write. Just an idea...
Its brown. You can see my listing here: http://fortwayne.craigslist.org/bfs/2010481083.html
I agree, on my side its all about finding a time to do it as well. Normally, I'd say about any weekend, I could convince my wife on making a little road trip, but with holidays and her working on some craft shows and the like, it could get dicey.
But, if you think you want to give it a shot, I can take down my listing and just hold onto it until we can both find a agreed upon time to make a trip happen.

I like that topic of How I Write. I will be sure to get that moving. I still have a few other pieces that I need to get up first and with NaNo, I might want to wait until December for some interactiveness (or maybe not, as some may welcome a distraction from NaNo).
Snohomish, yeah, I'm back to 100%. Feels good to not be sick!
Looks great! I was thinking (and I don't know why I didn't think of this sooner!) that so long as the wife agrees to let me add to the collection (you know how that goes...) you could just send me the Selectric with a UPS label that I could supply to you. I am the supervisor of a distribution department as my day job so I get a pretty good UPS discount. All I would need from you is willingness to pack it well and approx. weight and I can send you a label so there's no cost to you. Let me know and I'll continue begging the wife!
Yessir, I know exactly how that is. The only reason my Selectric II is on the block is because I needed to make room for the Hermes 3000.
I'm not sure I have a box and enough packing material for it just yet, but I think that after I get that Hermes, I'll have enough packing material and if I don't have a big enough box, I could certainly find one that would work.
So, keep me posted on your Typewriter Collection Expansion Project, and if you get the Green Light and Budget Approval and you are still wanting to buy the Selectric, I could pack it well and give you the weight (I have a good scale) and then could drop it off at UPS once I have the label.
I will let you know ASAP! If nothing else I know my sister is still looking for a gift to give me for my birthday next month so I think I can con her - I mean persuade her - to get me the Selectric! ;u)
IT'S A GO!!! I can send you a label as soon as you let me know the weight. It doesn't have to be exact, just within a few pounds. Email me - bob@wordrebel.com - and we can go from there. Thanks for the love, buddy!

Well, the Selectric II (which I typed this on) is a "cheater" machine. It is correcting, so I corrected the 2-3 typos I had while composing...
