  1. Nice! I don't think my daughter has mastered the sending of e-mail yet.

  2. My four-year-old and seven-year-old both love to bang away at the typewriter. So much more rewarding to them than the computer, with that racket and that thwap and the whole satisfaction of operating a mechanism. They love it so much that I'm now looking for a bang-away-able typewriter to dedicate to their play.

I certainly wouldn't say he's mastered it. I can see the day that he does though. My wife keeps her laptop at the end our our kitchen table, so someday, he'll get over there and I'll have a flood of e-mails in my inbox!

That isn't a bad idea. I have a few typewriters, in their cases, doing nothing but waiting for someone to use them. My only concern is, as in the past, my kids playing with the ribbon. Fingerprints everywhere and a jumbled, unrolled mess. But I can see myself getting one out, for my oldest, in a year or so.

  4. That's pretty cool. My four year old loves typing his name and a couple of short words that he knows on my SM-3. My nephew of similar age prefers the Olivetti 21.
