  1. That's something about the Selectrics that I don't like. You need to be above the type-ball to see what you are writing. Any type bar typewriter you don't have to be looking down on the paper. I can use my SG sitting back comfortably in my chair but when I use my Selectric I need to have my back as straight as I can to gain all possible height. Again good luck on the SG

  2. Thanks for the luck. Is it wrong of me to be thinking if I win the eBay typer that I might just buy the Craigslist one as well?

  3. Ah, a like-minded soul! While I awaited delivery of my eBay-prize Remington De Luxe 5, back in November, I was already designing a typewriter table for it. The three days after Thanksgiving were spent woodworking. By the time the machine arrived, I was ready to start typecasting.

Oh yes, I designed my table with adjustable legs... 'cause I had no idea what the right height would be. (It's a lot lower than expected.)

  4. So many typewriters... so little room. Actually, that was my original plan: a machine in every room. I got a RoyalQDL on display in the lounge, a Hermes 3000 on a desk in the garage, a ready Remington QuietRiter in the writing room, and a few more floating about.

In lieu of an adjustable desk, maybe consider a standing desk? I made one just right for my height, and have it next to a proper desk with PC so I can alternate.
