  1. What kind of job do you have, that you can get away with that kind of leisure?

    And are you hiring?

  2. Haha! Well, its not always like that, but some days, its slow and there's no meetings and nothing in the immediate future that I need to work on. Its like take a "working" vacation day and just reacting to issues that may come up...and luckily, there were no issues that day for me to attend to.

I'm a senior business analyst for a life insurance and retirement company and the department I work in is responsible for the company's annuity illustration/quote system. Basically, it projects how much money you will have for/after you retire based on all sorts of factors. We have several scheduled releases throughout the year and each release is divided between gathering requirements, our vendor writing code and finally testing and deployment.

Right now, we are in the "vendor coding" phase so there's not a whole lot of pressing matters going on. In a few days, we'll be testing a release and I'll be busy again!

Having natural ebb and flow in my job keeps me refreshed and very happy I have the kind of job I do.
