  1. I'm partial to SC, just in general. My main lady, Phoebe, is a 1968 Classic 12. Since the Galaxie isn't too far a cry from her, I'd go with that. I love the key response and the way they contour to the finger. That said, the Silent sure is pretty too....

Well, that's what you get for asking a SC lover!

  2. 31 days in a row - very impressive! I have been checking your blog without fail each day and you are getting on splendidly. I was inspired to post every other day (not consistently a typecast though) and I was lucky to get in the last one a bit before midnight last night... whew. Ah, procrastination. Let's see if I can get in 14 for February...

  3. Deek, I saw a weather map last night that showed your locale getting up to 2 feet of the white flakes! Same here in WI. Eeeek! You and your crew stay warm now. Off to make pancakes. . . ;-)

  4. @wordrebel: Yeah, both the SCs are nice. The Galaxie I picked up at an antique store and was in great condition when I found her. Just needed to clean a couple sticky keys and pop in a new ribbon. Good as new. The Silent, I found at a flea market and was in bad shape. Unlinked typebars, bent linkages, dirty, smelled bad and no case. I got her for less than $5 and fixed her all up, so now in perfect functioning condition. Both of them only get occasional use and are stored in my workshop. Not sure which is better for me to keep or give to a friend.

@adwoa: Thanks! I've had a couple nights that I slid a typecast in right before midnight. Good luck in February!

@ledeaux: Yeah, we've got a few inches today and I am working from home, moreso because I got up late and couldn't handle taking a cold shower. Repairman is supposed to be over at 9am to replace the valve. It hasn't started snowing again, but we are supposed to get 1-2 inches every hour this afternoon for something like 10-12 hours...plus more overnight. We'll see what happens.
