  1. I devoured almost everything of Vonnegut's long ago and that was about my least favorite, though still good. I thought of it the other day typecasting on my Erika, made in Dresden in 1940. I should have mentioned it then.

  2. That may be the beginning of some synchronicity...keep a lookout for another symbol!

With that being said, I'm even more interested to check out his other works. I know there is a Vonnegut museum down in Indy that I have been thinking about checking out.

  3. I read that one at some point in high school, liked it enough. Then I found Breakfast Of Champions - and it had a profound effect on the way I write. I still can't figure out why exactly it did but I know that as soon as I read the last page I began looking at my style differently.

I just bought it on my nook - I have to reread it!! Thanks for the inspiration!

    More symbol??? Can't wait!

  4. I read that a couple of years ago. I read it too fast and only picked up some of what was going on. My favorite Vonnegut (I've only read two novels and a few short stories) is Player Piano.

  5. Yeah, more symbols. And I think the path leads me to Vonnegut's museum in Indianapolis. I just got a text from a buddy that lives down there inviting a bunch of us down for a weekend full of board games. He was the one that recommended Vonnegut in the first place.

Or maybe, it was all to get me to write the short story I began last night that starts and ends with Vonnegut's novels...

I kind of feel like I'm in Field of Dreams:)

  6. Loved Slaughterhouse Five. I've read pretty much everything Vonnegut wrote, and that one is still top-shelf in my book. Breakfast of Champions is right up there. Ditto "God Bless You Mr. Rosewater".

  7. I went out looking for some more Vonnegut in the used market and came up empty. I do want to read more of his stuff, so I'm glad there are more that are top-shelf.
